John Teufel

John Teufel suit imageJohn received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2014, where he focused on family law. John has served as a fellow for Justice Deborah Kaplan in the Matrimonial Part of the state Supreme Court, and as an associate with a top Manhattan family law firm. He is Of Counsel to the firm. John’s practice focuses on the litigation of contested divorce, custody, and support matters.

He has represented many clients before courts throughout New York City, as well as in Westchester and on Long Island. John is adept at motion practice in the context of litigation, and utilizes affidavits and memorandums of law to forward his clients’ objectives and to provide courts with an engaging and understandable narrative of a case. John believes that contentious litigations are won through the use of deliberate and carefully considered strategy, organized case management, and a thorough understanding of the legal issues stemming from the facts of a case.

He prides himself on putting complex legal concepts and arguments in clear and persuasive terms. John is also a published writer with a degree in English from New York University. He has authored several case studies published in the national journal Lesbian and Gay Law Notes, and recently contributed a piece on the use of forensic analysis in custody litigation to the Family News & Views newsletter. John has been recognized as a SuperLawyers “Rising Star,” and has taught Continuing Legal Education classes on family law topics.
